You're Checking Shopify At 1am To See If Anything Sold
Your store can tell you what's selling and what's running low without you opening it. Most of it is already built in — it's just switched off.
You're on the couch, at the school gate, halfway through a Live — and you open your store's dashboard, again, just to see if anything sold. Or whether the thing you're about to promote is still in stock.
That's not you being obsessive. Right now your dashboard is the only place that knows, so you keep going to it.
Most store platforms can tell you instead. It's just switched off by default.
The shape of it
Three things, all usually built in. A buzz on your phone when an order comes in (or one summary a day, if every order is too much). An email when something's running low. And — if your store has one — a built-in AI helper you can ask "what's selling this week?" instead of digging through reports.
On Shopify that's the Shopify app on your phone, Shopify Flow for the low-stock email, and Sidekick for the questions. The prompt checks what your store has and walks you through switching them on.

I run a small online shop: [yourstore.com]
Keep it plain — no jargon, and if a techy word is unavoidable, explain it.
1. Open my website and work out what my store runs on. Tell me what you found.
2. Using that platform's current help pages, walk me through one step at a time:
- getting a notification on my phone when an order comes in — or a once-a-day summary instead, if that's possible
- getting an email when any product drops low in stock. Help me pick the number: about two weeks' worth of sales, not a random 5
- if my store has a built-in AI helper, how to open it, plus 5 questions I can save and ask it — like what sold this week, what's running low, and what I should promote
Wait for me to say "done" before the next step.
3. Finish with a one-line summary of what I'll now hear about, and when.
Never ask for my passwords. If my screen doesn't match what you said, ask what I see — don't guess.
Copies only the prompt text above.
Where it goes sideways
Setting your low-stock number too low. If something sells ten a week, an alert at five left is already too late. Set it to roughly two weeks of sales, so you've got time to reorder before anyone sees "sold out".
Rather just ask your store what's selling and what to push — from Telegram, wherever you are? That's Founder Console.
