Why Isn't My Store Showing Up On Google Or ChatGPT?
You search for your own products and they're not there. It's usually one of four quiet things behind the scenes — and one prompt checks all four.
You search for your own products and they're not there. Or you ask ChatGPT for exactly the thing you sell, and it recommends everyone but you.
That's rarely about your products. It's usually something behind the scenes quietly getting in the way — set by a theme, an app or a template, not by you. Nobody tells you when it happens.
The shape of it
There are four usual suspects:
- a tiny instructions file telling Google or AI tools to stay out
- Google not having a map of your pages, or being told not to show them
- your product words appearing a split second after the page opens — too late for AI, which only reads the first moment
- the hidden product label Google reads missing your price or whether it's in stock
You don't need to know which. The prompt checks them and tells you which ones actually matter for your store. AI tools can't always see the last two, so run the free check as well — it tests those properly.

I run a small online shop: [yourstore.com]
Keep it plain — no jargon, and if a techy word is unavoidable, explain it.
What I noticed (optional): [e.g. my new products aren't on Google / ChatGPT never mentions my store]
Check these four things and tell me which are a problem for my store:
1. Open yourstore.com/robots.txt. Is anything stopping Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity or other AI tools from reading my store?
2. Open my page map (usually yourstore.com/sitemap.xml). Does it exist and list my products? If you can search the web, search Google for site:yourstore.com and tell me roughly how many of my pages show up.
3. Open one of my product pages. Can you read the product name, description and price straight away, or is the page mostly empty?
4. On that product page, does the hidden product information for Google include the price and whether it's in stock?
Then:
- Give me a simple table: check | fine or problem | what it means for me, in one line.
- Work out what my store runs on and which theme it uses. For the biggest problem, walk me through the fix one step at a time, least risky first.
If you can't open something or can't tell, say so — don't guess.

Where it goes sideways
Fixing everything at once. Some of these fixes live in your theme, and changing a theme can quietly change your menus, photos and checkout too. Do the one that matters most, check your store still looks right, then do the next. And give Google a couple of weeks to catch up before deciding it didn't work.
